Can I transfer my moped online?
Are you buying a moped over from someone? Then you must transfer the license plate to your name. You can do this at an RDW inspection station, RDW desk, PostNL location or license plate counter, but you can also transfer your moped online. Nice and easy. Where can I transfer my moped online?
You can transfer your moped online on the RDW website. To do this, you need the DigiD app. If you transfer the moped online, the RDW must of course be sure that you are the one transferring the moped. Therefore, you must have a DigiD app with ID check. If you do not have this, you must raise your DigiD login level once by doing an ID check. You can find more information about this on the DigiD website. If you have already done this check, you can log in directly through the app and transfer the moped online.
Terms and conditions online moped transfer
There are some conditions attached to transferring a moped online:
- You must have a registration card and a registration code. You cannot transfer the moped online with a paper registration certificate
- You are an individual or have a sole proprietorship
- You must have the DigiD app with ID check
- You must have a valid Dutch identity document
How to transfer moped online?
Transferring a moped online is very easy. You can follow the following steps:
- Go to "Transfer vehicle. This will take you to the DigiD screen. Here you can log in.
- Follow the instructions on the screen
- Pay the fee of €12.50 with iDEAL. The vehicle is not immediately transferred after you pay. The RDW must first process the payment. This usually takes a maximum of several hours
- You will receive an email after payment that your request has been processed. In the e-mail you will also find a link that allows you to follow the status of your request
- You will then receive a second e-mail stating that the moped has been transferred. Only when you receive the second e-mail, the moped has actually been transferred. From that moment on, you are liable for the MOT, motor vehicle tax and are required to take out moped insurance.
- You will also receive a third email containing a link to the release certificate, the registration report and the first part of the registration code. The indemnification certificate you give to the seller
- Finally, you will receive by mail the registration card and the second part of the registration code.
